Silverstone plays host to round two of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 Championship this bank holiday weekend. The grid will consist of seven drivers battling it out over three races. This weekend’s entry list is packed with quality and excitement.
This excitement has been heightened still by the addition of the reigning German F3 champion Marvin Kirchhofer racing for Fortec Motorsport being added to the field.
Fortec’s British F3 Team Manager, Dan Mitchell, commented ‘We are very happy to have Marvin on board he is a proven race winner and can hopefully continue this with us at Silverstone.’
Kirchhofer a recent graduate from karting just two years ago took the German F3 title last year having won the ADAC Formel Masters the previous year in 2012.
Kirchhofer seems ready for this weekend and looks to be going all out for the win, stating ‘after a good test in 2013, I'm optimistic to race for the win in Silverstone. It’s a great opportunity for me, getting some experience at Silverstone and try to improve myself with a bit more racing. I'm looking forward to this weekend.’
The German F3 champion may however have some competition in the form of round one, triple race winner Matt Rao who is aiming for the podium again and will surely be pushing Kirchhofer all the way to the chequered flag.
Silverstone will also be privy to the other extreme of the racing spectrum when Russian Egor Orudzhev debuts for Carlin Motorsport partnering Peter Li Zhi Cong. Orudzhev said ‘I’m really looking forward to my first experience of a Formula 3 car this weekend. I have heard good things about F3 and I’m excited to drive the car myself at Silverstone’
Carlin Motorsport team boss Trevor Carlin may have spotted a gem in Orudzhev explaining ‘Egor has an impressive record of racing in FR2.0 and I’m sure he will get the most out of this experience this weekend.’
The second round of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 Championship at Silverstone certainly looks to be an exciting one. WP Racing official fuel supplier wishes the best of luck to all the drivers and looks forward to an action packed weekend.
