SRO announces the calender for 2014 British GT

 7th Oct 2013

SRO Motorsports Group announced the 2014 Avon Tyres British GT Championship's enticing provisional calendar, featuring visits to six of the best circuits in the UK and a popular return to Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

SRO-2014

British GT looks to maintain the mixed-format approach that worked well in the past four seasons and now aims to build on its best season 2013, which has seen average grids of thirty four cars competing to become the 2013 British GT Champion.

The fast and sleek woodland circuit that has kicked off British GT throughout its renaissance in recent times, will begin its 2014 season with the now traditional Easter Weekend meeting at Cheshire’s Oulton Park (19-21 April)

Corby’s super-fast Rockingham Motor Speedway which has generated some interesting races in seasons past, will be the host to the round two (03-04 May) to battle on the ISSLC layout again.

British GT will make the trip to the home of British motor racing, Silverstone (date TBC) for its round three and this will again be host to the three-hour endurance format, the longest of all the formats.

The championship hopefuls will begin to emerge when the British GT makes a visit to Norfolk and the Snetterton 300 circuit (21-22 June) for the round four of the season with British summer at its peak.

Towards the bottom of the calendar is the mighty impressive taking in three former Grand Prix circuits. After two years away, a return to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit (11-13 July) has been planned for the series, Drivers, teams and fans alike have been eager for the top GT series in the UK to make the Ardennes circuit part of the 2014 calendar.

Next up is Kent Brands Hatch GP circuit (30-31 August) and it will have the honour of hosting the penultimate race of the 2014 season. This leafy GP circuit has seen lots of action in past years, and is home to the closest finish in British GT history.

For the third year in succession, the season looks to wrap up at the magnificent Leicestershire circuit, Donington Park (13-14 September). The undulating track is a crowd favourite and a fitting host to the season finale.

Full formats will be confirmed in due course, with the Silverstone date to be announced in the coming weeks
