Jazeman Jaafar set a blistering pace in the blistering temperatures of Pau this afternoon, the Malaysian Carlin driver more than a tenth of a second quicker than his closest rival in free practice ahead of the Pau Grand Prix, the third meeting of the season.

Jaafar turned on the pace right from the start of this afternoon’s second session. The 19-year-old the first man to break the 1m 12s barrier around the 2.7km street track, with a 1m 11.784s lap.

Jazeman Jaafar 13.05.12The harsh and unusual demands of street racing lie ahead for the young stars of the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series, for next weekend (12/13 May) the south-west France city of Pau will host to the championship for the 68th running of the famous Grand Prix de Pau.

The UK-based runners will be joined at Pau by competitors from the FIA European Formula 3 Championship; a field of around 25 cars is expected at the event, which will feature two live-televised races.

Harry Ticknell Swaps Dallara for LotusBritish F3 frontrunner Harry Tincknell will this weekend (5/6 May) step back in time by 50 years when he goes behind the wheel of a 1962 Lotus 20 Formula Junior car to race in the Grand Prix de Pau Historique.

Norisring Track Germany

A late change in the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series calendar will see the championship heading for Germany rather than France this summer, when the series will join with the F3 Euro Series teams at the Norisring instead of visiting the Paul Ricard circuit.

The switch is to add support to the FIA, whose introduction of the European Formula 3 Championship in 2012 has been welcomed by participants.

Felix Serralles picks up the prestigious title of Mobil Service Centre Master at Monza last weekend.

A week after scoring his maiden Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series race victory, Fortec’s Felix Serralles racked up his second this morning at a streaming wet Monza, leading Round 5 from pole to chequered flag. Birthday boy Jack Harvey finished second to regain the lead of the championship.

Sainz Win Monza 14.04.12Carlos Sainz is celebrating his maiden Cooper Tires British Formula 3 race win this afternoon after putting in an impressive display in treacherous driving conditions at a rain-hit Monza. Carlin driver Sainz gained the upper hand from the outset and quickly built a useful lead over his pursuers; his closest rival, Fortec’s Pipo Derani, was almost 10 seconds behind at the line. Sainz moves into the championship lead by a single point.
